The Sarasota Alliance for Historic Preservation, Inc., a non-profit, publicly-supported 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to preserve and enhance our historic places through advocacy, education, technical and financial support, and celebration.

SAHP was incorporated in 1985 in an effort to save architect Dwight Baum's El Vernona Hotel.

We are a leading historic preservation advocacy organization in Sarasota. Our all-volunteer Board, our members, and our supporters work tirelessly to increase awareness of our historic resources and their value to the community.

Our activities include -

  • Engagement with County and City governing bodies and Historic Preservation Boards to further commitments to historic preservation,
  • New initiatives to assist historic property owners with repair and historic designation,
  • Walking Tours of historic neighborhoods,
  • Community engagement through advocacy alerts and  collaborations to help secure the preservation of historic properties and neighborhoods.
Our success depends on your engagement with and support of our mission. There are many ways you can help:
