The Sarasota Alliance for Historic Preservation (SAHP) is dedicated to providing tools the community needs to care for its history. Our loan process is transparent and straightforward, with no hidden fees, and the same goes for the project.

Schedule a visit with our Project Coordinator.
SAHP provides you with a FREE cost estimate to review.
Work with the HLP team to prioritize work needed and create the loan.
Sign the loan documents.
The HLP team will prepare the scope of work including specs, solicit bids and identify recommendations.
Homeowner selects their desired contractor to proceed.
Work begins on the project.
No matter how much careful planning is done, repair and restoration projects often involve some surprises as the work progresses. When the contractor discovers that additional work is required (beyond what was included in the initial bid) they will request a Change Order. The Change Order must be approved by the homeowner and the Project Coordinator prior to the additional work beginning.
In the case that additional funds are required to address these unforeseen circumstances, the homeowner may request additional loan funds from SAHP or provide the additional funding required to complete the work. The HLP team will help you identify the options and next steps that are right for you.
