Easement Property Owner's Dashboard

Thank you

Your donation of a conservation and preservation easement is a generous gift to the community of Sarasota. Not only does it honor those that came before us and protect their work, your donation is a tribute to future generations--a promise to safeguard the heritage and resources that convey the spirit of Sarasota.

We are here for you!

Helping you be a terrific steward for your historic home is part of our responsibility. As part of our monitoring process, our staff will reach out each year to schedule an inspection. Unless the easement specifically includes interiors (or there is something you'd like to get our opinion on) the inspection will encompass the exterior of the building only. Then we will provide you with an annual report that details the conditions of the property and can help you plan for routine maintenance tasks. The extensive expertise on the Sarasota Preservation Program Committee translates into a bank of technical assistance to help with complex rehabilitation projects, provide professional referrals, and function as a first stop for all your historic building conundrums.

Thinking about making some changes?

The Sarasota Alliance for Historic Preservation (SAHP) is dedicated to working with homeowners to accommodate their needs and desires to expand or modify their property.

⏰ The key is timing!

As part of our commitment to responsible stewardship of your historic property, SAHP must review any plans for alteration prior to the start of work to ensure that changes are in keeping with the National Parks Service Secretary of the Interior Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. This review does not apply to standard maintenance, nor does it apply to interiors unless there is specific provision in the easement document.

Considering Selling?

While historic preservation easements are quite common in other parts of the world, they are still relatively unfamiliar to many real estate professionals in our area. Education of industry professionals is an important part of the work we do, but it is a work in progress. We are happy to provide you some tips and suggestions regarding the best way to market your special historic property.
